Around Christmas time, if there has been fire then soaking rain, the very special Pink Flannel Flower (Actinotus forsythii) may be found in the Blue Mountains. Many years can go by without spotting them, so it’s a rare year when they appear. Last year’s bushfires were amongst the worst on record, and if there is one small silver lining, towards the end of 2020, it was getting to see the Pink Flannel Flower in bloom on Narrow Neck in Katoomba. They will likely be able to still be spotted until March.
